“Why do so many companies fail?”
We believe we have the answer: Lack of Planning and Execution
SMB's process is designed to supply both planning and execution.
With each engagement we have two objectives:
1. Help you acheive your near-term growth goals, and
2. Transfer knowledge to ensure that growth is sustainable long-term.
Our approach is a structured, iterative process that consists of a series of tasks and exercises that gradually build the foundation for an actionable growth plan. Each step is designed to address growth needs in the three main functional areas of the business (Sales / Marketing, Operations, Finance). Information and decisions developed in each phase are used in subsequent phases to validate the feasibility of the goals, maintaining the balance between goals and available resources. The process is iterative in that new information gathered in later phases might prompt changes to the goals, strategies and/or tactical plan in order to keep the plan on track.
Each engagement is essentially a project, with detailed task lists that describe what is to be done, by whom, and by when. We supply the task list for the information gathering, analysis, and decision points. The client, with our guidance, develops the tasks for the detailed tactical plans and implements the plan.
Each phase has a specific set of deliverables that must be completed before the next phase can begin. We supply the templates, tools, instructions and guidance for all of the phases of the project. To make sure that they know how to complete the deliverables, we work closely with the client's team throughout the entire project, from the inital planning to the acheivement of the goals.
The time-frame for the project is near-term (6 months to 2 years). Therefore, the goals of the project are incremental to acheivement of the clients long range goals. As each set of near-term goals are met, the process can be used again to develop the next set
and so on until the long range goals have been met.
